COSTA MESA, Calif. – The OUAZ men's soccer team fell behind early and no answers for the offensive effort of No. 13 Vanguard in a 4-0 loss on Thursday afternoon in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
OUAZ (10-3-1, 2-2-1 GSAC) allowed a goal in the third minute and found themselves down 3-0 just over 17 minutes into the day. Vanguard (9-3-1, 4-1) added a fourth goal in the second half to set the game's final margin.
The visiting Spirit saw few chances in the game with only eight shots and four shots on goal. Vanguard had most of the possession and the Lions put 11 of their 21 total shots on goal.
Mauricio Ochoa and
David Lopez had two shots apiece to lead the Spirit.
Yuri Nascimento took the loss in goal with seven saves.
The result keeps OUAZ with seven points in the GSAC table and has them alone in fifth-place. They are back in action on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. when they play at Hope International.
