@OUAZTennis Men Drop Exhibition at University of Arizona 7-0

Spirit open regular season weekend of February 16-18

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona men's tennis team opened their 2018 portion of their schedule on Wednesday afternoon, with an exhibition match against NCAA Division I University of Arizona. The Spirit fell to the Wildcats by a final of 7-0.

Wednesday's match was considered an exhibition match for the Spirit. Then match did count towards the University of Arizona's record, and with the victory the Wildcats begin the 2018 season with a perfect 2-0 record. UofA also defeated Arizona Christian University before their match against OUAZ.
 
"We gained a lot of confidence today," said OUAZ head men's tennis coach Brad Louderback. "We gained a lot of experience today and I really thought we competed and fought hard today."
 
Louderback continued, "Now we will get back to practice and work on getting better before we compete again in February."
 
OUAZ and the University of Arizona began the day with doubles matches first, as the Wildcats claimed all three matches by finals of 6-2. UofA claimed the single point for doubles play as the teams prepared for singles play.
 
In singles play, the Spirit fell in straight sets in all six matches. Competing for OUAZ on Wednesday was Leonardo Couto, Kim Donghyun, Eric De Romas, Noel Maurin, Austin Todd, and Peter Hariri.
 
The Spirit men's tennis team returns to the courts on Friday February 16th, when OUAZ squares off against San Diego City College at the Phoenix Tennis Center at 6pm.
