SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Ottawa University Arizona women's basketball team defeated the Grand Canyon University women's basketball club team on Monday evening by a final of 72-41 at Willow Canyon High School in Surprise.
To start the game the Spirit grabbed a 10-0 lead over the Grand Canyon University women's club team. The Lopes of GCU were able to get eleven points on the board at the end of the 1st quarter, but the Spirit were able to keep a lead of 6 points heading into the second quarter. The Spirit stepped up their strategy in the 2nd quarter, forcing GCU into turnovers and passing the ball to find the open shot. The half ended with a 17 point lead, 35-18.

In the second half, the Spirit continued their strategy outscoring the Lopes 17 to 10 points in the third quarter and 20 points in the 4th quarter. The Spirit dominated in their defense forcing GCU into 21 turnovers and collecting 17 steals. The spirit also used their offense to their advantage using 14 assists to share the ball and create open shots. The final score of the game is 72-41.
