SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Ottawa University Arizona men's soccer team defeated the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds on Thursday afternoon by a final of 4-1 in San Marcos, California.

"It was great to get back on the pitch and play a game today, after having the last 11 days off," said OUAZ head men's soccer coach Matt Gow. "After a few minutes we were able to get back into a rhythm. Once that happened, we did a great job of managing and controlling the rest of the game."

Twelve minutes later, the Spirit would tie the match at 1-1, when David Lopez (FR/Manteca, CA) found Andric McGill (FR/McPherson, KS); for his first of two goals in the game.

McGill added another goal in the 39th minute, to give OUAZ a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.

OUAZ picked up right where they left off to end the first half, in the 54thminute the Spirit got yet another goal when Eduardo Soriano III (FR/Las Vegas, NV) found Omar Centeno (SO/Los Angeles, CA) to give the Spirit a 3-1 lead.

The Spirit put the game away for good in the 74th minute, when Bryan Hernandez (FR/Phoenix, AZ) set-up Samuel George(FR/Sittingbourne, England) for the final goal of the match.

Overall, OUAZ outshot the University of Saint Katherine 21-8 and attempted six more corner kicks in the match.
