SPIRIT FALL AT EMBRY-RIDDLE 71-39

PRESCOTT, Ariz - The Ottawa University Arizona women's basketball team fell on Monday evening to Embry-Riddle University in Prescott, Arizona by a final of 71-39.

 

With the loss, the Spirit even their overall record at 1-1. With the victory, the Embry-Riddle Eagles improve to 3-0 overall on the year.

 

It was a rough night for the Spirit on Monday evening, as OUAZ traveled for their first road game in program history. Embry-Riddle who entered the game at 2-0, proved how strong of a team they were from the opening tip. The Eagles shot 43% for the game and outscored OUAZ 23-8 after a quarter of play.

 

In the second quarter, the Spirit kept it close with the Eagles but still were unable to muster many points. The teams headed into halftime with Embry-Riddle leading OUAZ 36-15.

 

The Spirit had their best quarter of the night in the third. OUAZ scored 14 points, while surrendering 18 points to the Eagles. Embry-Riddle then stormed off in the fourth and final quarter, by outscoring the Spirit 17-10.

 

Seven players scored in the game for the Spirit and Bailey Osmer(FR/Tucson, AZ) was the only one to finish in double-figures for scoring; finishing with 13 points in 31 minutes of action. The Spirit got the majority of their points at the free-throw line, converting on 21 of their 28 attempts.

 

OUAZ travels north to Flagstaff on Wednesday evening for a closed door scrimmage with Northern Arizona University. The Spirit will then head to California over the weekend, for a match-up with Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon at 4pm.
