Chris Davis

Chris Davis is entering his second full season as the head coach of the OUAZ bowling program, bringing with him a dynamic and diverse background in collegiate athletics and sports media. In his first full season at the helm, Coach Davis made an immediate impact, guiding the Spirit to first-place finishes at both the Devil’s Duel and Antelope Shoot-Out tournaments, establishing OUAZ as a rising force in collegiate bowling.

Coach Davis joined OUAZ from Grossmont College in San Diego County, a respected California community college where he held multiple key positions over two tenures. His roles at Grossmont included student assistant in the sports information department, baseball operations assistant, game day manager, and ultimately Sports Information Director, overseeing communications for all 18 athletic programs.

Prior to his time at Grossmont, Davis gained valuable NCAA Division I experience at the University of San Diego (USD), a private Catholic institution, where he initially joined the football statistics crew. His work quickly expanded to encompass a broad range of sports, including men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and both men’s and women’s basketball. He also served as one of three official scorers for USD baseball and held the role of primary official scorer for the university’s softball team.

Davis earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from California State University, Bakersfield in 2012. His roots in the sports industry run deep; he worked as a producer for the NFL’s San Diego Chargers during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Additionally, he served as the lead radio producer for the Lake Elsinore Storm, the High-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, on KRTM-AM during the 2005 season.

Outside of his coaching and professional responsibilities, Davis enjoys spending time on the golf course and at the bowling alley. He is currently awaiting an anticipated head-to-head showdown with OUAZ Women’s Basketball Head Coach Bob Henige — a friendly rivalry that reflects his competitive spirit and love of sport.
