Braxton Williams

Braxton Williams is in his first season as an assistant coach for the OUAZ men’s basketball team. On top of his duties on the GSAC’s fastest-rising program, Williams is also the head coach for the OUAZ Developmental Team.

While this is his first coaching position at the college level, he is no stranger to teaching and training high-level athletes. Williams moved to Phoenix after college, and got a job at PlayMakers Basketball, a club that trains NBA players and prepares NBA prospects for the Draft. He has trained notable players like Eric Bledsoe (New Orleans Pelicans), Rudy Gay (San Antonio Spurs) and Alex Len (Washington Wizards).

Williams gained valuable coaching experience during his time in the Valley of the Sun. Prior to OUAZ, he was the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach for the Desert Vista High School Girls Basketball program in Phoenix. While at the high school level, he trained multiple good athletes, including two who played at the NCAA Division I level.

Williams put together an impressive college career, playing at the Junior College level before moving up to NCAA Division II. He started at NJCAA DII North Iowa Area Community College, where he was a part of a pair of 19-win seasons. In his second season, he averaged 10 and 10 to earn All-Conference honors.

Williams continued his playing career at Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. He was a starting guard in both the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons.

He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Human Performance - Recreation with a minor in Geography. Williams is currently enrolled in a Master’s program at OUAZ.
