OUAZ STUDENT-ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY PROCESS

1) Every athlete needs to register with the NAIA Eligibility Center and receive an ELIGIBLE determination per NAIA standards: PlayNAIA.org

Until you are officially determined eligible by BOTH the NAIA and OUAZ you are
NOT ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE
in any scrimmages, games, meets, tournaments, or any other organized contest
against an outside opponent.

If you do, you can be charged you with a season of competition.





All documentation required for eligibility should be sent as "official" to both the NAIA and OUAZ.
No unofficial transcripts or test scores can be used to determine eligibility.

Instructions for submitting test scores:

At this point we are still accepting unofficial test scores, but we will soon have our own code for sending official test scores.

Unofficial test scores should be submitted as a screenshot or webpage pdf print and needs to include the name of the student, the test score, date of test, and breakdown of score categories.

Document Processing during COVID-19:
  • All US high school documents must be submitted through the NAIA High School Portal.
  • NAIA Registrar Portal - the fastest and preferred method to send domestic college transcripts. 
  • Domestic college transcripts via approved third-party vendors: 
    • A)  Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, eScrip-Safe/Credentials Solutions
      • if an email address is required for these services, you must use documents@naia.org.
 
Physical document processing will not take place daily and will be delayed extensively;
this is subject to change

CONTINUING ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

First Year Eligibility Requirements - First Two Semesters or Three Quarters

  1. The student-athlete must graduate from an accredited high school or be accepted as a full-time college student in good standing (defined by the enrolling institution).
  2. The student-athlete must meet two of the three entering freshman requirements:
    • Minimum score of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT (Critical Reading and Math);   
    • Cumulative high school GPA of 2.00 or higher (on a 4.00 scale); OR
    • Graduate in the top half of the student-athlete’s high school graduating class.
  3. The student-athlete must maintain enrollment in 12 institutional credit hours to compete.
  4. During the first term of attendance, a student-athlete must earn a minimum of nine institutional credit hours in order to be eligible for the second term of attendance.

Second Season of Competition

  1. The student-athlete must maintain enrollment in 12 institutional credit hours.
  2. The student-athlete must meet the 24/36-Hour Rule.
  3. The student-athlete must meet the Progress Rule.

Third Season of Competition

  1. The student-athlete must maintain enrollment in 12 institutional credit hours to compete.
  2. The student-athlete must meet the 24/36-Hour Rule.
  3. The student-athlete must meet the Progress Rule, including a cumulative 2.0 GPA to compete in the third season of competition.
  4. The student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA if they would be considered to have met junior academic standing per institutional standards.

Fourth Season of Competition

  1. The student-athlete must maintain enrollment in 12 institutional credit hours.
  2. The student-athlete must meet the 24/36-Hour Rule.
  3. The student-athlete must meet the Progress Rule, including a cumulative 2.0 GPA to compete in the fourth season of competition.
  4. The student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA if they would be considered to have met junior academic standing per institutional standards.
  5. In order to compete in a fourth season of competition, all students must have accumulated at least 72 semester/108 quarter (or equivalent) institutional credit hours, and at least 48 semester/72 quarter hours must be in general education and/or in the student’s major field of study.
