Mesa, Ariz. — The top-ranked OUAZ Beach Volleyball team earned another important GSAC conference win on the sand, defeating Benedictine Mesa behind dominant performances in the middle and lower flights to clinch the dual.
The match opened with a tough battle in the No. 1 flight, where Maya Blake and Eliana Dean came up short, falling 16-21, 15-21. OUAZ quickly responded in the No. 2 pairing as Railey Dykstra and Shayna Martinez battled through three sets to earn a crucial win, 21-19, 16-21, 15-6. The Spirit took control of the dual in the middle flights, with Olga Romero and Shea Marovich dominating the No. 3 position in straight sets, 21-13, 21-13. Katy Shockey and Gabriela Corrales followed with another commanding performance in flight four, winning 21-10, 21-13. Marielle Ramos and Leah John continued the momentum with a decisive win in the No. 5 flight, taking the match 21-6, 21-5. Amber Cerny and Sam Baer closed out the dual with a solid straight-sets victory in flight six, winning 21-16, 21-18.
With the GSAC win, the Spirit once again showcased their depth and resilience, responding to early adversity and controlling the dual across the remaining flights.
