Mesa, Ariz. — The top-ranked Spirit secured a major victory in GSAC play, defeating No. 3 The Master's in a hard-fought dual that showcased the Spirit's depth and resilience. OUAZ claimed the matchup with clutch performances across the lineup, highlighted by multiple decisive wins in key flights.
The Spirit struck first in the No. 1 flight, where Maya Blake and Eliana Dean battled through three tightly contested sets to earn the point, winning 21-19, 19-21, 15-12. In the No. 2 pairing, Shayna Martinez and Railey Dykstra showed grit, pushing their match to three sets before ultimately coming up short. OUAZ responded strongly in the middle of the lineup, as Olga Romero and Shea Marovich dominated the No. 3 flight with a straight-sets victory, 21-14, 21-9. Alicia Romero and Katy Shockey followed with another key two-set win in the No. 4 flight, taking the match 21-15, 21-19. Mariella Ramos and Gabriela Corrales sealed the team win in the No. 5 position, earning a 22-20, 21-13 victory to clinch the dual.
With the ranked win, the Spirit added another statement performance to their season, continuing to assert themselves as a top contender as GSAC competition continues.
