Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spirit Earn Strong Win to Start Road Trip

Riverside, Calif.- The OUAZ Spirit men's basketball team delivered a dominant performance on the road Tuesday night, defeating La Sierra 75–55 at Alumni Pavilion in Riverside, Calif. The 20-point victory marked a complete effort by the Spirit, who controlled the game on both ends of the floor from start to finish.

OUAZ set the tone early with disciplined defense and efficient ball movement, building a steady advantage that carried into the second half. The Spirit limited La Sierra's offensive rhythm throughout the contest while consistently converting scoring opportunities, allowing OUAZ to gradually pull away and secure the road win.

Carter Gittens led the Spirit with 18 points, narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds while also recording two blocks. Gittens was especially effective from beyond the arc, knocking down four of his six three-point attempts. Quinn Thorne orchestrated the offense with poise, finishing with 16 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals in an all-around performance. Zeke Viuhkola added 16 points and five rebounds, providing a strong interior presence.

Tyran Simpson contributed nine points and six rebounds, while Max Mkpa anchored the glass with eight rebounds to help OUAZ control the paint and limit second-chance opportunities.

The Spirit's balanced scoring, defensive intensity, and control on the boards proved decisive as OUAZ closed out the contest with authority to earn the 75–55 victory.

OUAZ will remain on the road for its next matchup, traveling to San Dimas, Calif., to take on Life Pacific on Thursday, January 8. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (MST).
