Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Comeback Falls Short as Turner Has Special Night

SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The OUAZ men's soccer team looked to pick up its first GSAC win of 2024 on Thursday, and got off to a great start thanks to a first half goal from Jesus Castillo. Benedictine Mesa then scored four unanswered goals in less than 15 minutes during the second half, and despite a furious comeback at the end, the Spirit would fall in a 4-3 final.

After falling behind 4-1, OUAZ scored a pair of goals in just 12 seconds to pull within one. Jamaine Turner converted a penalty kick, and then would assist on Joey Vega's third of the season to make the game's final 6:48 tense.

The Spirit would have a few set pieces in the dwindling minutes, but were unable to find the equalizer. OUAZ finished the night with 20 shots, and 11 of those going on goal.

Turner had a spectacular night for the Spirit, being a part of all three tallies for his team. The Senior had a goal and two assists on the night, and finished with six shots (four on goal).

OUAZ will hit the road for the first time in GSAC play this season, heading to Embry-Riddle next Wednesday night. Kickoff from Prescott, Ariz. is set for 7:30 p.m.
