Box Score SURPRISE, ARIZ.- After a defensive battle in the first half, both teams combined for four goals in the second half of Thursday's contest against rival Arizona Christian University (3-6-2 Overall,1-4-2 Conference) as the match ended in a 3-3 tie. The tie puts the Spirit 5-3-3 on the year and 2-3-2 in conference play.
The Spirit would strike first with a goal by Jamaine Turner (Sixth on the Season) in the 22nd minute of play, assisted by Alvaro Hormigos and Nate Fong. The Firestorm would respond with a goal of their own just three minutes later by Logan Johnson (First of the Season) in the 25th minute of play. The first half would end in a 1-1 tie.
The second half would be an eventful one, with Firestorm would open the second half scoring with a goal by Elijah Meade (First of the Season) in the 50th minute, assisted by Marlon Arce, giving ACU a 2-1 lead. The Firestorm added to their lead with another goal in the 66th minute of action by Aiden Abbitt (Fifth of the Season), assisted by Jose Garcia, to make it 3-1. The Spirit would respond just three minutes later with a goal in the 69th minute by Andrew DelGuidice (First of the Season), assisted by Ingram Kusoloka, to cut the lead to 3-2. With less than 8 minutes remaining, the Spirit tied the game at 3-3 with a goal by Ethan Castillo (Second of the Season), assisted by Jamaine Turner on the corner kick, in the 82nd minute. The defense turned up for both teams in the final minutes of the game to end with a 3-3 tie.
