PERFECTION ON THE COAST
CARLSBAD – The hot start to the season for the OUAZ Women's Soccer team continued in Carlsbad, California on Thursday as the Spirit turned in another clean sheet with a 2-0 win over Saint Katherine.
On a beautiful clear day at Aviara Park, the Spirit stayed perfect. Not only on the season, where they are now 3-0, but in the All-Time series against the Firebirds where they are now 6-0 (5-0 in Carlsbad).
Lexy Rowe (second of the season) and Melinda Lertzman (third of the season) provided the scoring. In the 70th minute, Rowe scored. The Maricopa, Arizona native scored when the Firebirds defense could not clear a ball in the box.
Just four minutes later, Lertzman scored to put the match out of reach.
The Southern California road trip will continue on Monday when the Spirit travel to Providence Christian College in Pasadena for a 10:00 a.m. match.
