PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla -- In the Quarterfinals of the 2023 NAIA Invitational the Spirit met a familiar in foe in No. 2 Vanguard but fell 3-1 to end the season. Despite going 0-5 against the Lions this season, Spirit will finish 2023 at 16-11 overall and 10-2 in conference play.

OUAZÂ suffered their fifth loss of the season to the Lions in the first round match of bracket play on Friday. The Spirit's sole point came by way of
Dayana Raygoza and
Mattea Wilson on court two. The pair went 21-15, 21-14 to clinch an easy dual point for the Spirit.Â
Olivia Andersh and Liv DePra were the only court to reach three sets after the pair took an impressive 21-10 set in the first. The pair fought hard in the second but were forced to a third where a close 15-12 final tipped the scales in the Lion's favor.Â
Amanda Carlson and
Grace Hughes were unable to finish their contest on court four after falling in the first but coming back in the second. Due to the NAIA format the pair were unable to see an outcome of their third set.Â
