Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Spirit Beat Montana Tech, Advance to "Fab Four"

After advancing to the "Great 8" of the NAIA men's basketball championship, the Spirit took on 10th-ranked Montana Tech for a spot in the NAIA Fab Four for the first time in school history.

Maybe it was nerves or just the thought of what was on the line, but both teams came out cold and combined for just 17 points in the first 10 minutes. Montana Tech controlled the first 18 minutes of the opening half but once OUAZ took the lead with :41 to go before halftime, it never looked back rolling to a 76-58 win.

OUAZ was led by senior forward Josiah De'laCerda's 20 points, eight boards and three blocked shots. Senior guard, Kolten Hitt added 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor (2-of-5 for three's) and sophomore Alex Villi notched 10 points and six rebounds. For the game, OUAZ shot 46.8% from the field (50.0% in the second half), but more importantly kept Montana Tech to just 31.7% from the field and 19% from three-point range.

The Spirit, now 25-9 on the year, will play tournament top-seed College of Idaho (34-1 overall) in the Fab Four. OUAZ becomes the youngest program (just six years old) to make the Fab Four in the 85 years of tournament action.
