FULLERTON, Calif. – A season-high 22 turnovers and season-low three-point shooting performance (17%) led to the OUAZ Men's basketball team dropping a 91-69 GSAC contest at Hope International. The loss moves the Spirit to 15-6 overall, 7-5 in conference play and into third place in the race for the GSAC regular crown. Hope (15-6, 8-4) now stands second in the league.
OUAZ trailed by 12 (17-5) within the first 5:50 of the opening half and could never put together a run to close the gap less than 10 before hitting the locker room down 43-30 at the half. Hope stretched its lead to 20 within the first three minutes of the second half and never allowed OUAZ closer than 15 the rest of the way.
The Spirit were led by
Devin Collins who had 14 points, 10 rebounds and was 10-14 from the charity stripe. It was the sixth time this season that Collins has posted a double-double in those categories.
Keshawn Bruner added 13 points and OUAZ all-time scorer
Josiah De'laCerda was held to just 11.
Where Things Stand
The loss moves the Spirit to 15-6 overall, 7-5 in conference play and into third place in the race for the GSAC regular crown. Hope (15-6, 8-4) now sits second in the league race behind leader Arizona Christian which beat San Diego Christian College 86-67 on Thursday night.
Streak Snapped
OUAZ has now won nine of its last 11 games overall but had its two-game winning streak snapped. The loss to Hope also broke the Spirit's six-game road win streak.
