2022 Men's Soccer Notes -- Week 6

With a little more than a week having past since last playing, the 20th-ranked OUAZ men's soccer team will open conference play this weekend with a pair of home tilts. The action begins on Thursday against Westmont at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, it's The Master's that comes to Surprise for a 12:30 p.m. contest.

OUAZ starts GSAC action with a 5-2-1 record during the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Spirit has a 2-1-0 record at Spirit Field entering Saturday.

The Spirit has scored 16 goals for an average of 2.00 goals per game. They are attempting 13.5 shots per outing and putting 54.6 percent of those chances on goal. OUAZ is third in the GSAC by taking 5.63 corner kicks per game.

OUAZ opponents are scoring 1.13 goals on 9.2 shots per game. The opposition gets 44.6 percent of their attempts on target. The Spirit has allowed multiple goals in a game just twice, and they have a .727 save p[ercentage and three shutouts.

Tinashe Simbo has five goals – tied for the GSAC lead – and two assists to lead the team with 12 points. Simbo has a goal in three of the team's last four games. He has taken 20 shots with 10 on goal and at least one shot in every game this season.

Titouan Desveaux has also scored five goals, and he leads the GSAC and ranks fifth in the NAIA with three game-winning goals. Desveaus has put 12 of his 16 shots on goal.

Tom Cohen leads the team and sits second in the league with 25 shots, while his 12 shots on goal are good for third in the conference. Cohen has scored one goal and is tied for the team lead with two assists.

Jamaine Turner has two goals and two assists while taking 10 shots with eight on goal.

Adam Salama has posted a 3-1-1 record with one shutout. He has made 12 saves and is fifth in the GSAC with a .750 save percentage. Salama is 41st in the NAIA with his 0.84 goals-against-average.


Marcos Papakostas has two wins and one shutout while maintaining a 1.66 GAA. He has totaled 11 saves, and a .688 save percentage.
