Spirit Advance to Semifinals with Sweep of Life Pacific

QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. – The first day of the GSAC Beach Volleyball Tournament saw the No. 2 OUAZ beach volleyball team secure a 5-0 win over Life Pacific to advance to the semifinals on Saturday morning.

OUAZ (15-8) scored the first point of the match on the No. 5 court, where Zoey Mohring & Olivia Andersh earned a 21-6, 21-12 victory. Noel Chavarria & Katie Defer followed shortly after with a 21-9, 21-6 win on court No. 2.

The Spirit clinched the match when Mattea Wilson & Katelyn Viray locked up a 21-18, 21-15 decision on court No. 3.

With the match decided, Mia Lara & Amanda Carlson would rally for a 17-21, 21-12, 15-13 win on court No. 4, while Katia Dizon & Kate Pestova overcame losing the first set on court No. 1 for a 20-22, 21-17, 15-8 win.

The Spirit win puts them into a match with Arizona Christian on Saturday at 11 a.m. The winner will face the winner between Vanguard and San Diego Christian for the title at 1 p.m.
