Beach Goes 1-1 on Day One of GSAC Round Robin

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The No. 2 OUAZ beach volleyball team split its two matches on the first day of the GSAC Round Robin on Friday. OUAZ fell to No. 4 The Master's 3-2 to begin the day before coming back to secure a 3-2 win over San Diego Christian.

The Spirit is now 5-7 on the season and 4-2 in GSAC matches.

MATCH 1: The Master's 3, OUAZ 2
Katia Dizon and Kate Pestova earned the Spirit a point by winning the ones match 21-17, 21-17. OUAZ then got a point from Katelyn Viray and Mattea Wilson with their 21-11, 21-10 win in the threes match.

The dual was even at 2-2 and came down to the fours match. The Master's pair held off the Spirit duo of Priscilla Loiola and Mia Lara 21-19, 14-12, 15-12.

MATCH 2: OUAZ 3, San Diego Christian 2
Dizon and Pestova would win their second match of the day 21-18, 21-13, with Viray and Wilson also picking up a second win 21-18, 8-21, 15-11.

OUAZ got its third point from Loiola and Lara as they bounced back for a 21-19, 21-18 victory.

The Spirit will conclude play at this GSAC event on Saturday when they face Life Pacific at 10 a.m. (AZ).
