Swimming Sets 16 Program Records with Men’s 200 Medley Qualifying for NAIA Champs

MOSCOW, Idaho – The OUAZ men's swimming team wrapped up its regular season on Friday and Saturday with a two-day meet against The College of Idaho, while the women's team competed against C of I and the University of Idaho.

The OUAZ men earned a 117-91 win over the Yotes while the women fell to C of I 190-38 and 284-18 to Idaho.

The highlight of the weekend was the men's 200 Medley Relay team of Jonathan Cowin, Konnor Kolberg, Ayden Dusek, and Vladimir Fedoseev winning the race in 1:37.00 to qualify for next month's NAIA National Championship. The time was nearly three seconds faster than the previous best time in program history.

That would be one of 16 school records set at the meet, with the men recording 12 of those records. The four from the 200 Medley Relay also set OUAZ relay records in the 200 Freestyle, 400 Freestyle, and 400 Medley.

Dusek added program records in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, and 100 Backstroke. Cowin picked up the OUAZ record in the 200 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly. Sean Martin posted the record in the 500 Freestyle and 400 Individual Medley, with Kolberg posting the top time in the 200 Freestyle.

Kayden Brendel recorded all four of the OUAZ program records for the Spirit women. She established new times in the 200 Backstroke, 100 Butterfly, and the 200 and 400 Individual Medley events.
