Spirit Return to Defend Title at AVCA Small College Beach Championship

The OUAZ beach volleyball team will be returning to Florida to defend its 2019 National Championship, as they were selected as the number two seed in the AVCA 2021 NAIA Small College Beach Championship. It is the first time the tournament has been played since the Spirit won it all two years ago.

The tournament has 12 teams split up into four pools. The Spirit are the top seed in Pool E, matching up with St. Andrews University and the University of Mobile.

OUAZ will play both schools in the pool on Friday, with the winner of Pool E getting put into the Gold bracket, which will determine the NAIA National Champion. Second place in the pool will head to the silver bracket, with third place heading to the bronze bracket. Each school at the championship is guaranteed four duals in two days.

The semifinals and final dual will both happen on Saturday, with a champion being crowed by the end of the day. The Gold bracket semifinal is scheduled for 11 a.m. EST, with the final set for 2 p.m. EST.

The Spirit will start the tournament bright and early on Friday, matching up with St. Andrews at 6 a.m. PST (9 a.m. EST). Final scores of the matches and duals will be found at https://floridaregion.bracketpal.com/tournament/40.
