The OUAZ men's soccer team split a two-game week earlier this season, and will play a pair of games this week as conference action roles on. The Spirit will see Arizona Christian in Glendale on Tuesday, and then make a trip to Northern California on Saturday to face William Jessup.

OUAZ lost its first-ever game to ACU back on August 19, 2017, but have not lost to the Firestorm since. They are 2-0-1 in the last three matchups, outscoring Arizona Christian 8-4 in that span.

The Spirit have never tasted defeat against William Jessup, though the schools have only played two matches. OUAZ grabbed a 2-1 win at home in 2018, but tied during last season's trip to Rocklin.

It is an important pair of matchups in the GSAC East, as OUAZ, ACU and WJU are 1-2-3 in the standings. Both the Spirit and Firestorm are tied at the top with 2-0 records, and Jessup is one game behind them.

Scoring goals has not been an issue so far, as the Spirit rank second in the conference in goals per game (2.8), and are in the top 50 of the NAIA in the same category. OUAZ has scored three or more goals in all but one contest this spring.

Samuel George is averaging a goal per game, and has scored a penalty kick goal in two straight games. He is not the only one finding the back of the net, as seven different players have scored, and three other players each have two goals.

The Spirit are not scoring on just solo efforts either. Mauricio Ochoa and Glademir Mendoza each have three assists, and eight different OUAZ members have at least one assist.

At times, the Spirit have played very solid defensively as a unit. OUAZ has two clean sheets to its record, and have given up one goal or less in three of its five contests this season.

Arizona Christian is allowing a limited number of spectators at the game on Tuesday, and fans are subject to a COVID-19 screening before entering the facility. William Jessup is not allowing spectators at its facility in Rocklin.
