OUAZ Closes Regular Season With Win Over ACU

GLENDALE, ARIZ. - The OUAZ beach volleyball team celebrated senior day on Friday, and those leaving after this season ensured they would remain unbeaten against Arizona Christian. The Spirit defeated the Firestorm 5-0 on Friday, as OUAZ as still never dropped a match to ACU in program history.

None of the matches went past two sets, and the most any Arizona Christian pair scored in a set was 16. The two schools played the dual in two waves, with the fours and fives going first, and wrapping up the dual with the remaining three matches.

OUAZ held an ACU pair to single-digit point totals in two sets; Mia Lara and Claire Nenninger kept the Firestorm at nine in the first set of their match. Isabel Mason and Noel Chavarria closed out their match with a 21-8 second set victory.

Katia Dizon and Abbey Willison closed out the dual with a 21-13, 21-16 victory. The dual win guaranteed the Spirit the second seed in the conference tournament.

There will be a lot of time to prepare for the conference tournament, as the Spirit will have the next two weekends off. They will head to Irvine, Calif. for the two-day event that starts April 9.
