Spirit Rebound with Pair of Non-Conference Victories

The OUAZ beach volleyball team put together a pair of bounce back efforts on Wednesday, just four days after its second conference loss of the year. The Spirit took down Wayne State College and Arizona Christian in Scottsdale, and won nine of the ten matches between the two duals on the morning.

OUAZ took the dual quickly, winning the twos, fours and ones matches all in two sets. The sets in those three matchups were close, as the largest victory was a 21-13 second game for Brittany Western and Viri Serrano.

Despite the dual already being wrapped up, Claire Nenninger and Mia Lara pulled out a three-set victory. They lost their first set 21-13, but bounced back to record a 21-15, 15-9 effort to complete the comeback.

OUAZ 5, Arizona Christian 0
Entering Wednesday, the Spirit had yet to lose a match to Arizona Christian in two duals. That trend continued in Scottsdale, as OUAZ won the dual 5-0, marking the third straight 5-0 for the Spirit in the matchup history.

The Spirit did it in dominating fashion again, winning all five matches in two sets. There were two sets in which ACU pair did not reach 10 points, and the Firestorm scored 11 or less points in six of the total ten sets in the dual.
