Spirit Began Season at NAU Duals

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The opening of the 2021-22 season for the OUAZ women's swimming team saw the Spirit drop duals to Northern Arizona and Arizona Christian on Saturday. While the teams competed at the same time, the meet was scored separately.

OUAZ would fall to Northern Arizona 191-21 and Arizona Christian 157-28.

Kayden Brendel sparked the Spirit with a second-place finish in the 100 Butterfly. They finished the race at 1:02.33. It was the first time someone from OUAZ had competed in the event. Brendal would also finish ninth in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:06.44,

In the 50 Freestyle, Lindsey Dwinell went 27.84 seconds to lead a trio of Spirit in sixth place. Molly Jensen finished in seventh at 28.58 seconds, and Isabella Gomez was eighth at 28.87 seconds.

Gwyneth Arthur finished the 100 Freestyle in 1:00.40 to place seventh with Gomez in eighth at 1:04.68.

The Spirit will return to competition on November 20 when they host the OUAZ Invite at the Southwest Valley YMCA.
