SURPRISE, ARIZ. – The OUAZ men's tennis team found its first Golden State Athletic Conference on Friday after defeating a good Westmont squad. The Spirit continued that momentum on Saturday as they defeated Marymount California 4-0 to win back to back duals for the first time this season.
It was a great start for the Spirit, who took the doubles point despite dropping the first match.
Jordan Petrie and
Dong Hyun Kim grabbed a 6-3 win to clinch the point giving OUAZ the early lead.
The Spirit rolled in the first singles match, as
Alan Vasquez swept Adalberto Juarez 6-0, 6-0 to put OUAZ up 2-0 in the dual. Petrie won his singles match in identical sets (6-3, 6-3), and
Noah Griffith secured the dual as he defeated Andrew Herd 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the deal victory.
The Spirit will get back into conference play next week when they host Hope International on Friday and San Diego Christian on Saturday.
