MESA, Ariz. – The OUAZ beach volleyball team ran its winning streak to begin its program to seven straight matches with a 3-2 win at Benedictine Mesa on Saturday afternoon at the Gene Autry Sports Complex.
In the most competitive match of the season, OUAZ (7-0 earned their first point when
Jessica Youngberg and
Mariah Clausen won the No. 5 match 18-21, 21-12, 15-11.
After Benedictine Mesa (1-4) evened the dual at 1-1 by winning the No. 4 match, the Spirit went back in front with a 21-6, 21-12 win in the No. 1 match by
Viri Serrano and
Andrea Gonzalez.
OUAZ would clinch the match when
Valerie Rodgers and
Mikelle Taylor swept the No. 2 match 21-16, 21-12.
The No. 3 match went to BenU Mesa in a tight 3-set match, 22-20, 22-24, 15-12.
The Spirit will look to extend the winning streak when they play at Arizona Christian on March 15 at 10 a.m.
