PHOENIX – The OUAZ beach volleyball team remained undefeated in the inaugural season after picking up a pair of victories on Friday at the Victory Lane Sports Complex. OUAZ started the day with a 5-0 win over Arizona Christian and they beat Mesa Community College by the same 5-0 score.
OUAZ is now 10-0 on the season.
MATCH 1 vs. ARIZONA CHRISTIAN
Facing Arizona Christian (2-9) for the second straight week, the Spirit would again secure a sweep of all five matches. They won all five with a sweep and held the Firestorm pairs to single digits in seven of the 10 sets played.
Gianna Kioa and
Emily Morris won their No. 4 match 21-3, 21-6 while
Ashleigh Atsaros and
Alyssa Dincoff claimed a 21-6, 21-6 win in the No. 3 match.
MATCH 2 vs MESA CC
In their second match of the day, OUAZ would once again take a 5-0 victory with five two-set sweeps. They had another five wins in holding the opposition to single digits.
Andrea Gonzalez and
Viri Serrano picked up the No. 1 match win 21-12, 21-8.
Mikelle Taylor and
Valerie Rodgers swept the No. 2 match 21-14, 21-8.
UP NEXT
The Spirit will take to the road next week for three matches. That begins on March 29 against Westcliff at the Great Park in Irvine, Calif.
