PHOENIX – The OUAZ beach volleyball team continued its torrid start to its inaugural season by sweeping Arizona Christian 5-0 on Friday afternoon at the Victory Lane Sports Complex.
OUAZ is now 8-0 on the season and they are 33-6 in matches.
The Spirit five pairs each won their duals in two-set sweeps. That included the No. 5 pair of
Jessica Youngberg and
Mariah Clausen claiming a 21-7, 21-3 victory. In the match, the OUAZ duo committed zero attacking errors and tallied nine service aces.
The No. 1 pair of
Andrea Gonzalez and
Viri Serrano won their sixth straight dual by a score of 21-8, 21-15.
Mikelle Taylor and
Valerie Rodgers won the No. 2 dual 21-8, 21-13 with the No. 3 dual going to
Alyssa Dincoff and
Ashleigh Atsaros 21-14, 21-11.
OUAZ added the fifth point with a 21-15, 21-6 win by
Gianna Kioa and
Emily Morris in the No. 4 dual.
The Spirit and Arizona Christian will meet again on March 22 at 9 a.m. at the Victory Lane Sports Complex. OUAZ will also face Mesa Community College that day.
