HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The OUAZ beach volleyball team recorded another two victories during their inaugural weekend of competition on Friday. The Spirit began the day with a 4-0 win over Santa Ana College before earning a 5-0 win against Cypress College.
OUAZ had little troubles with Santa Ana as all four teams recorded 2-0 sweeps without allowing more than 12 points in any of the eight sets. The No. 4 team of
Gianna Kioa and
Emily Morris won their match 21-7, 21-9.
In the day's second match, the Spirit again won each of the five duals with a 2-0 sweep.
Jessica Youngberg and
Mariah Clausen opened the wins for OUAZ by taking the No. 5 match 21-5, 21-7. After Kioa and Morris earned a 24-22, 21-16 victory,
Andrea Gonzalez and
Viri Serrano secured the team's win by claiming the No. 1 match 21-10, 21-11.
Valerie Rodgers and
Mikelle Taylor won the No. 2 match 21-14, 21-13 and then
Ashleigh Atsaros and
Alyssa Dincoff completed the sweep by winning the No. 3 match 21-16, 21-13.
At 4-0 on the road trip, OUAZ will close play the final two matches of the weekend on Saturday at Grossmont College. They will play El Camino College at 10 a.m. MST before facing Grossmont at 11L30 a.m. MST.
