OUAZ Downed by Warriors Long Range Performance

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The OUAZ men's basketball team got caught on the wrong side of a 3-point shooting display on Thursday night as they fell to Life Pacific 102-90 in a Golden State Athletic Conference game at Willow Canyon High School.

OUAZ (4-20, 1-13 GSAC) held an early 9-6 lead when Life Pacific (9-14, 3-11) used the long ball to put on a show. The Warriors started a 14-0 run over the next 3:33 of action with four straight makes from beyond the arc. The hot streak continued as they ended the half hitting 14 of 20 from beyond the arc and holding a 54-36 lead.

The Spirit battled in the second half and took advantage of being in the double bonus just over six minutes into the half. They were able to get the deficit to nine with the ball at the 3:17 mark, but an empty possession and four straight points from the Warriors sealed the Spirit's fate.

Marcus Williams gave the Spirit a career high 29 points by hitting six threes and converting 12 of 15 at the foul line. He also handed out eight assists and grabbed a pair of rebounds.

OUAZ shot 43.5 percent with 12 makes from three. They scored 13 points from 11 offensive rebounds and added 25 points from 22 Life Pacific turnovers.

Tanner Riley finished with 21 points and four steals for the Spirit.

Life Pacific ended the game shooting 67.4 percent from the field and 17 of 27 (63.0%) from deep. Andre Allen scored 34 points to lead all scorers.

The Spirit return to action on Saturday when they host Hope International at Willow Canyon High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
