OUAZ Visits Park Gilbert on Thursday

OUAZ MEN'S BASKETBALL NOTES
• The OUAZ men's basketball team will return to action on Thursday when they travel across the valley to Gilbert to face their newest Arizona rival, Park Gilbert. The game will tip at 7:30 p.m. from the San Tan Charter School.

• OUAZ will bring a 2-2 overall record into their only game of the week. They have gone 1-1 on the road to this point of the young season with all of their countable road games being played in the greater Phoenix area.

• Thursday's game will be the first-ever meeting between the Spirit and Buccaneers as Park Gilbert is in its inaugural season. The teams will meet in Faith Arena on February 10.

• Park Gilbert will have a live stream of the game available on their Stretch Internet portal that can be found at portal.stretchinternet.com/parkbuccaneers.

TRENDING
• OUAZ heads to Gilbert as the NAIA leader in 3-point field goal percentage by making 48.6 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc. They achieve that mark by making 8.75 threes per game.

• The Spirit also sit fourth in the nation in foul shooting behind their 80.8 percent at the stripe. The team started the season by shooting 81 percent or better in each of the first three games they played.

• Add in the team's 48.9 percent shooting from the field – 21st in the NAIA –and the Spirit are scoring 90.0 points per game to fall 20th in the country at this points. OUAZ has scored 80-plus points three times in four games while scoring 79 points in the fourth.

• Heading into Thursday, OUAZ is 21st in the country at 17.75 assists per game and they hold a 1.203 assist-to-turnover ratio which places them 23rd in the NAIA.

DOING MOORE
• Dimetres Moore is off to a blistering start to his senior season with four straight games with 20-plus points, including a career high 35 against Benedictine Mesa last Saturday.

• Moore currently ranks fourth in the NAIA in scoring at 26.25 points per game while sitting in third by making 66.7 percent from beyond the arc.

• Moore narrowly missed the first triple-double in program history against Embry-Riddle when he recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds, and a school record nine steals. Those nine steals are the most by a player in the Golden State Athletic Conference since the 2010-11 season.

• He will also enter Thursday second in the NAIA at 3.75 steals per game while ranking 31st in rebounds (8.25) and 14th in offensive rebounds (3.50).

LAY DOWN THE LAW-SON
• Shazier Lawson is scoring 14.50 points per game and he is shooting 54.8percent from the field. Lawson had his first 20-point game of the season with 22 in the win over Embry-Riddle.

• Lawson has a pair of double-doubles and he is 10th in the NAIA by grabbing 10.00 rebounds per game. His 7.25defensive rebounds per contest ranks 11th nationally.

DIMES WITH CAREY
• Brian Carey has scored in double figures in all four games and he posted a double-double of 19 points and a school record 10 assists against Embry-Riddle.

• Carey is currently fourth in the nation at 7.75 assists per game while also maintaining a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.

ABOUT PARK GILBERT
• Park Gilbert started the week with a 1-6 record in their first season. After defeating Embry-Riddle at th ebuzzer in their inaugural games, the Buccaneers have lost six straight.

• Thursday will be just the second home game in the program's history after falling to Oregon Tech, 71-45, on November 7.

LOOKING AHEAD
• Next week is another one-game week for the Spirit as they host Westcliff on Saturday, November 30. Tipoff at Faith Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m. following the women's game.
