Spirit close out regular season Monday at home against SAGU American Indian College

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Ottawa University men's basketball team defeated the Fighting Falcons from California Miramar University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 111-91 inside of the Willow Canyon High School gym.

With the victory Saturday, the Spirit improve to 14-13 on the year.

The Spirit jumped on the Fighting Falcons in the first half and never looked back. OUAZ scored a season high 64 points in the first 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon and took a 64-42 lead into halftime. In the first half, OUAZ shot 57% from the field and 55% from beyond the three-point arc. Defensively the Spirit held California Miramar to 35% shooting from the field and 37% from deep.

The strong shooting continued for the Spirit in the second half, as they finished 45% from the field in the final 20 minutes of the game. All but three Spirit players scored in Saturday's high scoring affair.

Six players finished in double figures scoring, led by Tanner Riley's 22 points. Khalil Bailey chimmed in with 18 points and Chandler Solis scored 19 points off the bench.

The Spirit close out the regular season on Monday evening, when they welcome crosstown rival SAGU American Indian College to Willow Canyon High School. Tip time is set for 7pm.
