Westcliff on OUAZ Agenda for Friday Night

THE AGENDA
The OUAZ men's basketball team will look to snap a two-game losing slide on Friday when they host Westcliff University in a non-conference game. The game will tip at 7 p.m. at Willow Canyon High School in Surprise.
 
Fans attending the game are encouraged to park on the south side of the gymnasium and enter the building through the west doors. Admission is free to all OUAZ home basketball games this season.
 
OUAZ will broadcast the game live on the NAIA Network and through the Spirit Game Central portal. The NAIA Network is available on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku devices by searching NAIA. Live stats will also be available during each game. ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ sits at 1-6 overall this season after dropping a pair of home games to ranked Golden State Athletic Conference opponents last weekend. At 0-2 in conference play, the Spirit are tied for ninth in the league through one weekend of play. OUAZ is 1-2 at home on the year and 3-7 in their last 10 games dating back to last season.
 
The Spirit will enter Friday's game averaging 74.6 points per game and making 41.3 percent from the field. They are averaging 6.0 made 3-pointers per outing and converting 27.5 percent from distance. They collect 36.9 rebounds per game while averaging 10.1 assists with a 0.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
Defensively, OUAZ is allowing 87.5 points per game and 44.1 percent shooting. The opposition makes 7.3 threes per game at 30.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Spirit are creating 16.1 turnovers per game by getting 7.0 steals and they add 2.3 blocks per game.
 
Brian King Jr. leads the team in scoring at 18.1 points per game and he ranks sixth in the GSAC in that category. King has scored in double figures six times, including a school-record tying 37 at Benedictine Mesa on November 7. He is second on the team with 46 rebounds to go with 11 steals and seven assists.
 
Tanner Riley is averaging 15.4 points per game – 11th in the GSAC – and he has scored in double figures six times. Riley shoots 45.5 percent from the field while leading the team with 14 steals. He had grabbed 36 rebounds and had 12 assists and three blocked shots.
 
Dimetres Moore has three straight 20-plus point outings, including a career high 27 against Westmont on Saturday. He has raised his season average to 14.7 points per game in shooting 56.7 percent overall. Moore has 10 made threes and makes 52.6 percent from beyond the arc. He has added 25 rebounds and 10 steals as well.
 
ABOUT WESTCLILFF
Westcliff starts the week at 1-10 overall this season and having lost six straight. They play at La Sierra on Tuesday before heading to Surprise. Their lone win was a 69-68 decision over Embry-Riddle on November 8. The Warriors average 58.0 points per game and shoot 37.3 percent. They are allowing 87.5 points per game.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Spirit will spend next weekend playing a pair of games at the Cactus Classic held at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. They open the event against Rocky Mountain on December 14 before facing Providence on December 15.
