The OUAZ men's basketball team will host Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday in the team's 2018-19 home opener. The second game of the season between the two Arizona schools is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Willow Canyon High School.

Admission to all OUAZ home basketball game is free. Fans are asked to park on the south side of the school and enter the gymnasium through the west entrance.

Tuesday's game will be broadcast live on the NAIA Network and the OUAZ Game Central portal for $7.95. The NAIA Network is available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Roku devices by searching NAIA.

ABOUT THE SPIRIT
OUAZ opens the home schedule at 0-4 overall this season. They have gone 0-2 in road games and 0-2 on a neutral site. They are coming off an 0-2 trip to Redlands, California, and the Bulldog Tipoff Classic. The Spirit suffered losses to Augsburg and Cal Miramar in an exhibition game.

The Spirit are currently scoring 71.5 points per game and they have twice gone for 70-plus. They are shooting 39.8 percent from the field and hit 5.3 3-pointers per game at 26.9 percent. OUAZ is getting 35.8 rebounds per outing while distributing 7.5 assists per game.

The Opposition is scoring 87.2 points per game while shooting 42.4 percent from the floor. Opponents hit 7.8 threes per game while making 30.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Spirit force 13.5 turnovers per game and get 7.8 steals per contest.

Brian King Jr. leads the Spirit in scoring at 21.3 points per game and he tied the school record with 37 points in the loss at BenU Mesa on November 7. He is shooting 47.3 percent from the field while also leading the team with 28 rebounds and seven steals.

Tanner Riley adds 14.3 points per game on the year and he shoots 42.6 percent from the floor. He has scored in double figures three time, including a 23-point outing against Southwest in the season opener.

Dimetres Moore is third on the team in scoring at 8.5 points per game and is coming off a career-high 17 points against Augsburg. He has added 15 rebounds and is second in the club with five steals.

ABOUT BENDECITINE MESA
Benedictine Mesa heads west to Surprise with a 6-1 overall record and riding a two-game winning streak. The Redhawks come into the game after recording a 92-79 win over Eastern Oregon on Friday. They are scoring 89.3 points per game in shooting 48.0 percent. Michael Carter Jr. leads the team in scoring by netting 15.9 points per game.

Tuesday is the fourth all-time meeting between OUAZ and BenU Mesa with the Redhawks holding a 2-1 lead. BenU won the earlier meeting this season, 84-80, in Mesa and they are 1-0 all-time in Surprise.

LOOKING AHEAD
After Tuesday, OUAZ will be off from competition for eight days before opening Golden State Athletic Conference play on November 29. That night, the Spirit will host The Master's at 7:30 p.m. at Willow Canyon High School.
