OUAZ Records 3-3 Draw at Arizona Christian

PHOENIX – The OUAZ men's soccer team came away with a 3-3 draw during a back-and-forth affair at Arizona Christian on Saturday afternoon in Golden State Athletic Conference play at the Rose Mofford Soccer Complex.
 
OUAZ (9-1-1, 1-0-1 GSAC) twice overcame a deficit and then gave up a lead in recording a point in the GSAC standings.
 
Arizona Christian (9-2-2, 2-0-1) scored the first goal of the game in the 16th minute when Breno Nascimento forced a turnover and scored on an empty net.
 
The Spirit answered in the 23rd minute with the first of two goals by Serigne Amar Ndao. The goal came when Mauricio Ochoa crossed the ball to a streaking Ndao for a shot onto an open goal.
 
ACU added a goal by Miguel Vasquez in the 27th minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
 
OUAZ would take the lead with the first two goals of the second half. The first coming from Miguel Acosta in the 51st minute on a feed from David Lopez. Ndao would then complete the brace in the 52nd minute as he finished a ball played by Acosta.
 
The lead held to the 56th minute when Jesus Valenzuela found an equalizer.
 
Neither team could tally a winner through the final 34 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime.
 
ACU finished the day with a 28-12 edge in shot attempts with the Spirit putting eight of their chances on goal.
 
Yuri Nascimento earned the decision in goal for OUAZ with eight saves.
 
The Spirit will return to action on Thursday when they host Menlo College in a GSAC contest at 7:30 p.m. at Spirit Field.
