Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

SPIRIT MEN SHUTOUT SOKA UNIVERSITY 4-0

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The OUAZ men's soccer team finished with their second straight shutout victory on Monday evening, by defeating Soka University of America by a final of 4-0 in Aliso Viejo, California.

"I am very proud of this team," said OUAZ head men's soccer coach Matt Gow. "They showed some incredible maturity in this game, especially in certain moments late in the game.  It was great to see them put together back-to-back team performances and not allow a goal all weekend."

Gow continued, "it is going to be a blast seeing this team get better with every game.  I couldn't be more pleased with the teamwork they demonstrated tonight."

With the victory, the Spirit improve to 2-1 overall. With the loss, Soka University of America falls to 1-2 overall.

Ricardo Navarro (FR/Inglewood, CA) and his Spirit teammates picked up right where they left off on Monday evening, striking early and often at Soka University. The Spirit are coming off of a 6-0 victory at Providence Christina College over the weekend, before defeating Soka University 4-0 on Monday. Ricardo Navarro notched his fourth and fifth goals of the season in the first half on Monday, to give OUAZ a 2-0 lead headed into halftime.

In the second half, Eduardo Aguilar-Mendoza (FR/Manteca, CA) added to the Spirit lead with a goal in the 66th minute. OUAZ put the game away for good in the 87th minute, when Bryan Hernandez (FR/Phoenix, AZ) capitalized on a Soka mistake and added another goal to extend the Spirit lead to 4-0.

Antony Siaha (SO/Yaounde, Cameroon) picked up the victory in net for the Spirit, picking up his second shutout of the season.

OUAZ returns to action this Thursday, when the Spirit travel to Fullerton, California to face Hope International University. The match is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
